Project Manager

Responsibilities

The role requires strong skills in problem solving, verbal and written communication, relationship building, as well as leadership and team management. The project manager must have a solid understanding of project management tools and techniques to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects and the flexibility to lead diverse and dynamic teams. The project manager will typically:

  • Manage dependencies within multidisciplinary teams through the design and development of solutions-based web sites and applications (such as E-marketing, Content Management, Portal and application)
  • Provide project leadership and motivate team
  • Manage both team and client expectations around scope and enforce change order process as needed
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary and peer review of deliverables and manage client reviews
  • Work with the project team to develop and manage project budget, timeline and assumptions
  • Identify, analyze and mitigate risk
  • Plan and facilitate kickoff and team meetings
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships
  • Assist sales support by contributing to estimation and proposal development and represent the project management discipline with prospective clients

All interview candidates must be prepared to show a portfolio of representative past work and writing.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading clients through the discovery, analysis, and design phases of Web & IT projects
  • Experience with both creative and technical teams and some understanding of the dependencies between them
  • General knowledge of the principals of user centered design
  • PMP certification or equivalent a plus
  • Experience managing solutions using both Enterprise Content Management tools (Vignette, Documentum, Interwoven, etc) and/or Enterprise Portal Applications (Vignette, Plumtree, Tibco, WebSphere, etc) a plus
  • Conceptual understanding of J2EE and .NET platforms. Programming ability not required, but it is considered a plus.
  • Strong influence management, negotiation, leadership and assertiveness skills. Excellent presentation skills. Strong attention to detail with the drive to follow through.
  • Customer service oriented
  • Familiarity with various development methodologies such as Rational Unified Process, Agile, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience working with executives and senior client contacts

Additional Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Basic skills with interactive tools and software such as Adobe Creative Suite and HTML are a plus
  • Previous project management in a consulting environment, specifically one specializing in web development
