Content Strategist

Requirements

  • Developing content strategies for Web sites and complex applications to meet business objectives and user needs
  • Defining and/or advising on strategic direction for content delivery to support requirements
  • Producing competitive site analyses
  • Generating detailed site content inventories/audits and evaluating content breadth, organization, and presentation
  • Defining content elements to be created, re-written, migrated, or removed
  • Establishing content guidelines and editorial procedures
  • Supporting content developers in content creation and policy adherence
  • Developing content plans for Web content; working with stakeholders to define content workflows and update policies
  • Researching, identifying, and enumerating content sources
  • Presenting content strategy deliverables to clients
  • Defining research requirements for Web strategy
  • Creating taxonomies and metadata frameworks for grouping and tagging content
  • Establishing content guidelines and editorial procedures for content tone, style, and voice
  • Developing content models for CMS implementations, including defining elements and classification schemes
  • Solid understanding of user centered design methods, techniques, and deliverable types
  • Closely collaborating with Information Architects, Business Analysts, and Technical Architects
  • Fostering long-term client satisfaction and trust

All interview candidates must be prepared to show a portfolio of representative past work and writing.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA degree in recognized field
  • 3+ years experience defining and/or developing online content
  • Strong content management system (CMS) and database experience
  • Problem solving, resourcefulness, and forward thinking
  • Proficiency in developing highly detailed deliverables
  • Strong content management system (CMS) experience
  • Driven self-starter able to work individually and collaborate with other team members
  • Superior editorial and content management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Additional Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Masters in Technical Communications, Information Design, Information Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
  • Consultancy or agency experience
  • SEO/SEM Expertise
  • Advanced understanding of content management systems and relational databases
  • Experience with ecommerce and enterprise-class applications
  • Professional writing experience
  • Experience developing content for multi-platform/multi-channel applications
  • Superior attention to detail
